A quick letter to this body that God has blessed me with....
Dear body,

I feel it's time you and I have a little talk. Now's as good a time as any, so lets have at it...I'd really appreciate it if you would please stop reserving fat in case of famine. I mean, really. When was the last time I starved you, other then the occasional fasting? Yeah, that's what I thought...I don't. I feed you ridiculously healthy and expensive food. I mean really, what's cheaper, tofu or mac and cheese? Whole grain, or white? Five million vegetables and spices for a single dish, or a five dollar pizza. Exactly, I spoil the shiest out of you.

I also work you out vigorously for a couple of hours on a daily basis, in hopes that maybe you will quit this silly game and just give up being fat. But no, you have to be all stubborn on me. What's so cool about being fat anyways? Oh sure, it's not that big of a deal to you, but it's made life very difficult for me, and has been rather trying on our relationship.

And don't give me that thyroid crap again. I don't even want to hear it. I think you're just using it as a crutch so you don't even have to try, mean-whilst I'm out here doing all the work, with no results, because you won't carry your weight (no pun intended).

I'm aware that you probably find this all terribly comical, knowing that I'm stuck with you. I mean, it's not like I can just leave you, seeing as then I would cease to exist, and that would defeat the whole purpose.

So seriously. Just take the wonderful, tasteless, overpriced, vitamin packed food I shove in my gullet every day, remove what nutrients you need, and dispose of the rest in your manner. Then, take the usable parts, and use them to help fuel my workouts, so at the end of the 1-2 hours, I'm not half dead. If you find yourself at a deficit of calories or nutrients at some point during the day, please, FEEL FREE TO USE THE WORTHLESS FAT THAT YOU'VE BEEN COLLECTING. No need to be a hoarder any longer, just let it go, I promise we'll both feel better in the end. Symbiosis son.

I'm glad we had this talk. Hopefully it will be beneficial to both of us.

Many thanks,

Me.

=P

Well the Bible says we are beautifully and wonderfully made, so no matter what you or others might think, God says you are beautiful and wonderful so you are!

As someone who's gone from fat to fit maybe I can offer some advice. Two years ago I weighed 215 pounds and I'm kinda short 5'10" so that was a lot of fat. I looked really chubby and bad (to me). I nearly failed my PT test and I knew it was time to take control of my body and make it what I wanted it to be...either that or lose my job, which of course I didn't want.

Some people are blessed with a naturally trim body and can eat whatever they want, I am not one of those people so I had to work at it. So I started by cutting carbs and sweets out of my diet. It was tough at first seeing candy and cokes and wishing for that but after a while I got to the point where I wanted to drink was water and everything else just tasted nasty. I never starved myself, but I concentrated on eating things that were low in carbs (easy on breads and sweets) and portion size.

I'm in the military and we do PT but its the bare minimum for most people. So I ran and worked out on my own time. I started by running 1 mile every other day, eventually it became 2 miles. You might start by running 1/4 of a mile and then walking 1/4 and so on. Eventually you will be running 2-3 miles with no problem.

I lift weights as well and while that might not be so great for a girl, strength training is important. Even when you are working out, the fat you have doesn't do much, but muscle burns lots of calories even at rest...how do you think pro body builders look so lean? All that muscle burns the calories before they can ever become fat.

The most important thing is time. Don't expect to see changes overnight. In fact, for the first 2 months..don't even weigh yourself or anything. When you finally do step on that scale you will be amazed.

It took me 2 years to get where I'm at now, and I'm still working at it. I weigh 170lbs now, which is mostly lean muscle. I still have a little bit of fat on my belly, but that is just diet...I've been slacking a bit lately but I am leaving for Iraq soon for deployment and I'm really gonna hit it hard over there.

Just a little advice, hope that it works out for you. Remember that the only person that change you is you, God has your back, but you gotta take that first step.

That's funny stuff. Omega 3 fish oil might help with the belly fat. But it sure sounds like you're doing the right stuff.

Very funny post!

Yeah, it was mostly meant to be tongue in cheek. I take SUCH good care of my body, (nearly vegan diet, running, aerobics, and lifting on a rotating schedule) but alas, I remain overweight. A doctor friend of mine suspects a thyroid problem, seeing as I have other symptoms pointing that way, but I have no health-care and therefor no way of officially diagnosing or medicating it. It's all good. So long as I know I'm healthy, I don't care too much anymore.
